Study to Explore Early Development
SEED is the largest study to-date comparing children with autism and other developmental delays to children without these delays. The study will allow researchers to better understand the health and behavior of young children and help determine factors that contribute to autism.
North Carolina along with Maryland, Pennsylvania, Georgia, Colorado, and California, are the six sites participating in SEED. Approximately 2,700 two- to five-year old children in these states will be part of this study. The children and their parents will be asked to complete some questionnaires and evaluations that will help researchers understand similarities and differences between children with and without developmental disabilities or autism.
In North Carolina, families might be eligible to participate if they have a child born between September 1, 2003 and August 31, 2005 and are living in one of the following counties: Alamance, Chatham, Davidson, Durham, Forsyth, Guilford, Johnston, Orange, Randolph, or Wake.
