Goal 1. Describe the prevalence of Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD)
The CDE Project provides data about how common ASDs are in central North Carolina.
Goal 2. Describe children with ASDs
The study describes some basic characteristics of children with ASD.
Goal 3. Compare ASD prevalence by characteristics and location
The CDE Project looks at the similarities and differences between children with ASD in NC and those in other areas of the country.
Goal 4. To identify changes in ASD prevalence over time
The study will look at the number of children with ASDs over several years to see if the number changes over time.

What is 'prevalence'?
Prevalence is the number of existing disease cases in a specific group of people during a specific time period. Public health professionals use prevalence to track a condition over time and to plan responses at local, regional and national levels. |
