SEED Study Activities
Information about study activities is listed below. You can contact the SEED office toll free at 1-866-633-8003 for additional information.

Complete mailed Questionnaires about child and parents

After you complete a brief phone screening and agree to be in the study, you will receive some packages of study information, medical records release forms, and questionnaires to complete.

Send cheek swabs to the study lab

You will be asked to use a very small brush to wipe some cheek cells from the inside of your and your child’s mouths and send them to the study lab.

Complete a phone interview

The person who has spent the most time taking care of the child will be interviewed about the child’s early years and about the pregnancy with this child.

Clinic Visit-Child

A parent or guardian will bring the child to the study clinic for an assessment of his or her development. This will include a brief physical exam and may include a blood draw. A few weeks later families will get a letter describing the assessment results.

Clinic Visit-Parent

The parent will be asked more questions about the child and asked to provide a blood sample. This can be scheduled either at the same time as the child's visit or on a separate day.

Diary of child’s diet and stools

Parents will be asked to complete a diary for several days on the things their child eats and on his or her bowel movements.
